Here’s the first episode where I’ve got nothing pre-written. Because I can’t remember a single thing about it. Something about a bird flying into a window, Walt climbing a tree to escape a polar bear, maybe… let’s find out!

The flashbacks are I think far more extensive than in any other episode so far, taking up at least half of the running time. Luckily, they earn their length, as virtually every important moment of Michael’s life that relates to Walt is thoroughly explored. All the context it provides to their on island relationship completely fits. Michael’s over-protectiveness and full on hostility towards Locke makes complete sense (even if, as Walt says, he’s acting like a “jerk.”). Michael never becomes one of the show’s most interesting characters for me, but he is one of the most grounded and realistic.
